Overview
In 2015 I had the amazing opportunity to travel to Beirut for Data4Change’s week-long workshop. As part of a group of designers, data researchers, and developers we were tasked with analysing a data set from the Arabic Network for Human Rights Information (ANHRI) - an organisation working to defend freedom of expression in Egypt - and creating a website that could showcase that data.
We were inspired by the topography of Tahrir Square (the repeated focal point of political demonstrations in Cairo) and used it as the structure for the core data visualisation. The final piece is the static mock-up of an interactive website.
